I can’t tell you how many times I see something that makes me say, “I wish I’d thought of that!” This just happened to me again. I received an email from someone Nazaray telling me about their Sound Blocks Kickstarter.

This is a software program that lets you drag-and-drop sound effects and use connections to define the serial/parallel ordering of their playing. I just found this video on YouTube.

Sound Blocks will run on Windows, Macs, and Unix. The folks at Nazaray say that it’s designed for everyone—from children and non-musicians to professional music producers. They also say:

The app’s intuitive and playful interface allows users to learn and start creating music in just seconds, no prior experience required. Its inclusive design ensures accessibility for all users, including those with varying levels of physical or cognitive abilities, making music creation a truly universal experience.

I totally agree. This is one of those things that’s both simple and awesomely clever at the same time. It’s also one of those things that will keep me amused for hours. I just pledged $15 for the “Super Early Bird (50% Off)” specials.

As I write this, there are still 500+ of these available, so--if you're interested--I'd suggest grabbing one while the grabbing is good 🙂
