I tell you, if there’s one thing today is not, that’s a slow news day! Do you recall a few years ago when the folks at Charmed Labs had a Kickstarter for their Pixy vision sensor that connected directly to Arduinos and other microcontrollers, and that you could teach to recognize objects and colors?

I must admit that I invested in a couple of those little rascals myself. Well, I just heard from Rich LeGrand at Charmed Labs who tells me they currently have a new Vizy Kickstarter on the go. As you can see in this video, you can think of Vizy as a powerful platform for AI, scientific, and vision applications, and a great way to become familiar with and learn AI and image processing.

As we see in the video and read on the Kickstarter, you can use Vizy to detect things (people, animals, insects, cars, bicycles…) and/or to measure things (size, speed, duration, count, angle, brightness…) and then act accordingly (move, emit sound, turn on a light, sent a text message, trigger a sprinkler water valve…) and/or record the proceedings (events, measurements, pictures, videos…) for later analysis.

There’s so much to this that I don’t know where to start. Happily, all you need to do is to visit the Vizy Kickstarter for all to be revealed. So, what do you think? Can you see a Vizy in your future?
