Arrggghhh, I had intended to have this paper ready to coincide with my [Max's] column in EE Times on 13th Feb 2006. Sad to relate, however, I'm still putting the finishing touches on this little rascal.

On the bright side, this is going to be a really, really interesting piece. I should have it finished in a few days (or weeks the way things are going at the moment), so please come back to check it out. Alternatively, if you send me an email at I would be delighted to email you back to let you know as soon as I post the paper.

In the meantime, just to give you a feel for how cool this paper is going to be, why not check out some of the other items on our More Cool Stuff page. For example, our paper on Computer Consoles describes the origin and evolution of display technologies from a Victorian "Fax Machine" to the latest nanotube-based surface emission displays (SEDs), which are expected to reach the market toward the end of 2006. This paper also contains a wealth of information as to how our color vision works, much of which you may find to be somewhat surprising, because a large portion of what we were taught at school now turns out to be wrong!
