Good grief — how time flies! It seems like only a couple of days ago that I was a guest on “The Embedded Hour,” video chatting with my chum, Adam Taylor, who is the Founder of (and Principal Consultant at) Adiuvo Engineering and Training, which is based in the UK.

Eeek! I just realized that our discussion took place more than two months ago. Give me strength! I’m too young for all this excitement! While I’m thinking about it, you can see our original chat here. Also, you can peruse and ponder all previous “Embedded Hour” videos on the Adiuvo YouTube channel.

The original intent of our talk was to discuss the trio, triad, or troika of blogs we’ve been writing on the topic of “How to Get an Engineering Job and Keep It.” Part 1 and Part 2 of this mega-mini-series have already been posted, and Part 3 will appear on the Adiuvo Engineering Blog tomorrow (Friday 11 December 2020) as I pen these words.

As you may recall, Adam and I both hail from the legendary city of Sheffield in the fabled county of Yorkshire in that paradise on earth known as the island of Albion. Unfortunately, we all too easily find ourselves falling into our own two-man version of Monty Python’s classic Four Yorkshiremen sketch.

In our original chat, for example, we noted that we both attended Sheffield Hallam University, although I graduated two decades before Adam (this probably indicates that I’m the faster learner). During our discussion, Adam made mention of the fact that the students in his class had access to the finest in steam-powered digital computers. I responded that in my year we could only dream of steam-powered digital computers; instead, we were obliged to make do with hand-cranked analog apparatuses. Of course, we both agreed that when you tell this to the young people of today, they don’t believe you.

Anyhoo, the reason for my waffling here is that Adam and I are going to continue our conversation on Friday 11 December 2020 starting at 12:00 noon Eastern Time, 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time, 5:00 p.m. Greenwich Mean Time. If you would care to join us, then you need to register before all of the good virtual seats are taken (actually, I’m being serious this time because each session is capped to 100 attendees at the moment and seats are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis on the day of the live event!)

If you have any questions you would like to pose to Adam and me in advance, or any other thoughts you’d care to share, then please avail yourself of the comments section below.
