I’m scared to think how many “global person hours” are spent watching YouTube each day (or each hour, for that matter). I’m sure that I contribute more than my fair share because I will be happily researching one thing when YouTube temps me with another… and another… and another.

Such was the case when I ran across this video of David C. Roy’s mesmerizing kinetic sculptures, which are predominantly created out of wood.

It seems that David is a self-taught artist with a background in physics. I’m sure the physics comes in very useful with regard to his kinetic creations, which — powered by mechanical wind-up mechanisms — can run for up to 48 hours on a single wind.

I tell you. These are beautiful to behold and relaxing to watch. I could sit quietly in the corner observing them perform their magic for hours. Unfortunately, after seeing this video, I now have more projects to add to my list of things to do before I eventually shrug off this mortal coil and head out for the next plane of my existence.

How about you. Are you as enamored with these bodacious beauties as am I? And, if so, could you be tempted to try your hand at building one?
