There are so many things going on in the world and I have so little time to peruse and ponder them all. I’m reminded of the lyrics from Brain Damage on Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon album (you should also take the time to listen to Dub Side of the Moon by the Easy Star All-Stars):
[…]
The lunatic is in the hall
The lunatics are in my hall
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paperboy brings more
[…]
I saw Pink Floyd play this live at an open-air concert in 1975, and now I can hear the words and music rattling around my poor old noggin (which, in turn, reminds me of Noggin the Nog, which was a cult classic from the golden age of British children’s television).
But we digress. My chum Jay Dowling has been sending all kinds of nuggets of knowledge and tidbits of trivia my way, so I thought I’d briefly share some of these links with you so I can stop worrying about falling behind.

I fear we’ve barely scratched the surface of the topics I wish to talk about, but at least the ones mentioned here will keep you occupied for a while. More coming soon… watch this space…
Actually, while I have your attention, I’m hoping to make more people aware of my columns, so I’d very much appreciate it if you could use your social media channels spread the good word to your family, friends, and colleagues by means of this link: CliveMaxfield.com/CoolBeans
The Pink Floyd lyrics I’d apply are
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it’s sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you’re older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death
(From Time, also from DSOTM)
Seems to have more and more relevance these days…
Also from Time: “Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way” (you have to admit that their lyrics were pretty amazing)
👍 Yes, I’ve always like that line as well 😊
In fact, listening to Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon is probably not indicated if you’re feeling a bit down…..
But it’s mandatory if you have a new pair of stereo headphones LOL
